Welcome to Issue #11 of the Plantation Buzz! Thank you Plantation readers for supporting our free weekly 5 min read email newsletter about our city. Make sure you vote in this week’s poll.

I'm Aston Bright, publisher of the Buzz (Plantation Firefighter 10 yrs & resident for 15 yrs). I started this newsletter to promote the good news & events happening around town. And to enhance the city’s community spirit, promote togetherness and shine a light 🔦 on the AMAZING people who live here and the businesses in our community.

Check your inbox every Thurs and get buzzed! First time reading, Subscribe here.

Fun Fact: 🧑🏻‍🚒 Nearly half of Florida's firefighters are volunteers, with Plantation being the state's largest combination fire department. While EMS paramedics are paid city employees working in shifts, all fire engine personnel in Plantation are volunteers. This volunteer system, initiated by Benjamin Franklin in 1736, fosters community support and has saved Plantation taxpayers millions since its inception in 1957 by Fred Peters, Frank Veltri, and others. A new training class starts this fall. If you’re interested in becoming a Plantation Firefighter please contact Fire Administration 954-797-2150 or visit the Plantation Fire Dept website and click join us!

🚔 Plantation PD Wins Recognition The Broward Victim's Rights Coalition named the Plantation Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division as Agency of the Year for their outstanding work in investigating crimes and supporting victims. Congratulations to Plantation PD!

🚧 Move Over Plantation There is a law in Florida that requires you to move over when you see first responders, utility workers, tow truck operators, or construction workers working on the roadway. So, when you see Public Works mowing the grass, please be mindful of their safety. Slow down and move over a lane while they work and help beautify our wonderful city. Help keep everyone safe! Thank you Public Works. Stay Safe out there!

Watch out for Public Works trailers! They may stop suddenly. Stay safe.
