Today is Absurdity Day, and the 324th day of the year. Only 41 days left in 2025. The big three holidays of the Fall are even closer. Thanksgiving is 1 week from today.

Chanukah & Christmas are approaching the horizon.

I’m Aston Bright the publisher of the Plantation Buzz. I’m a local kid who loves Plantation and I created the buzz to shine a light on our great city.

I was at the city council meeting last night to support our Firefighters who received their service pins. Michael Taussig received his 40th year service pin. Yes, forty (40) years at the Plantation Fire Dept as a Volunteer Firefighter! Just tremendous!

They’re proposing that Plantation set up an endowment fund so residents can leave money to the city in their estate. Oakland Park, Lauderhill and other cities have already done this.

It would be great for our city to have a way for residents to leave a legacy to our city in support of the Arts and other projects the endownment fund would support.

🧠 Fun Facts National Absurdity Day was created to celebrate the absurd. This day was created as a day to recall and note some of the entirely off-the-wall and ridiculous things in history, in our country, and in our lives.

Absurdity Day is also a day to have fun and do crazy, zany, and absurd things. Use the day as an excuse to let out the silly antics hidden inside them.

You can do things you have wanted to do that make absolutely no sense at all, and it will be okay because you will be celebrating this National Day.

Today women make up approx 50% of the workforce. But, there was a time when the idea of women in the workplace was absurd.

Pushing the boundries of the absurd is important. That is how we progress forward and make life better for everyone.

You see if we don’t reimagine society and ideas, nothing will change.

Take today to celebrate the odd and weird things that could someday be commonplace. In the 70’s tattoo’s were for biker gangs and people in prison. Now they are ubiquitous, chic, and accepted everywhere!

Thing change.

Time changes things.

What changes could be coming next?
